Wells. Published in serial format by Pearson's Magazine from April to December of that year, the story originated after the author's relocation to the town of Woking in Surrey County/5(K). The War of the Worlds has inspired seven films, as well as various radio dramas, comic-book adaptations, video games, a number of television series, and sequels or parallel stories by other authors.

The most famous, or infamous, adaptation is the radio broadcast that was narrated and directed by Author: H. Wells. The War of the Worlds is a science fiction novel by H.G. Wells.
